Gourmet Club – January 28, 2017

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to laura.jekot@gmail.com by Friday, January 20. Let me know if you are willing to host or co-host this dinner. The full menu will be sent out with links to all of the recipes a week prior to the dinner.

Basic guidelines for the LH Gourmet Club and 2017 Dinner dates are included in this email. Whether you are new to the neighborhood or you have been on our list for a while, please read though the following and reply to laura.jekot@gmail.com with your name(s), address and email contact info if you want to remain on our list and let us know which events you will be most likely to attend and/or host. (These are just preferences, you don’t need to commit.)

Jan. 28: Country French

April 22: Seafood Theme

July 22: Tapas and Spanish wine tasting class. This will not be the same format for our formal chef-themed dinner, but we will send out recipes for tapas to pair with wines we will be tasting.

November 4: Vegetarian and Vegan Theme.

All Dinners are on a Saturday night and start at 7:30 p.m.

The Lakewood Hills Gourmet Club is open to everyone who lives our neighborhood. Culinary expertise is not required. The only requirements for participation are passion for cooking and eating delicious food, motivation to stretch and develop your skills in the kitchen and desire to explore different foods with your neighbors.

Each Gourmet Club dinner has a theme. The entrée, sides, appetizers and desserts are determined in advance by the planning committee and recipe options are sent out a week before the dinner.

Gourmet club dinners are held in neighborhood homes. The number of homes varies depending on the number of people attending a particular dinner. There are usually six to eight diners at each host home. There will be a host and a co-host at each home.

– The host is responsible for opening his/her home to the dinner guests and for providing a welcome beverage and an appetizer.

– The co-host will provide the entree and wine to pair with dinner. (The host and co-host can coordinate wine choice to serve with entree)

– Guests will bring one side or dessert per person and one bottle of wine per person. The wine should be selected to pair with the entrée or entire menu or a dessert wine to pair if you are providing a dessert.

Hosts are always needed for Gourmet Club dinners. Your home does not have to be formal or large to host a dinner. Hospitality is more important than fine china in this group. Card tables are welcome!
